Premiere on ORF: “Linz, a relaxed city”

Violent crimes in the AEC, murder in Garrison Street, bloody deeds in the Brucknerhaus and then a young doctoral student is thrown off the roof of Kepler University – with fatal consequences: Evil has now discovered Linz, although not so concentrated “in real” probably but as a location for the new crime series “SOKO Linz”, which experienced its baptism of fire on February 1, 8:15 p.m. on ORF 1 with the episode “Judas”.

After Leipzig, Cologne, Vienna, Wismar, Hamburg, Munich, Kitzbühel and Stuttgart, Linz is now part of the popular “SOKO” TV crime family. The state capital is presented as a modern city, as an urban center that has absorbed culture, business, science and the start-up scene.

At the media event in the Brucknerhaus, the anticipation of the start of the series was palpable. “I sang all over the world, but the SOKO thrillers accompanied me on all my travels,” revealed LIVA boss Dietmar Kerschbaum as an “incredibly great fan”.

Economics Minister Markus Achleitner was pleased that the state’s 500,000 euros in funding for the series have already been recouped four times over in the form of “direct and advertising effects”. There will be further subsidies, “but not increased by inflation”.

Linz Mayor Klaus Luger (SPÖ) was pleased that “Linz has now arrived in the league of SOKO cities”. He himself remembers the shooting in the city as very pleasant and cooperative. When he himself shot an election campaign video while jogging on the Donaulände, he was very kindly stopped by SOKO employees because, according to the script, a corpse had to be fished out of the Danube there. ORF program manager Stefanie Groiss-Horowitz was pleased that her hometown of Linz is now continuing the well-established SOKO crime series. She added “Linzer nonchalance” to all Linz attributes. ORF General Roland Weißmann, also born in Linz: “I am pleased that the eight percent increase in the GIS fees has been waved through today. We can use this money to finance such projects.”
