The man had spent a day skiing there in Salzburg. In the afternoon he stopped at an alpine pasture. From there he left again in the evening and drove down the family descent towards the valley. Eventually he left the runway to get to the parking lot. The 56-year-old fell on the terraced parking lot down an embankment about two meters high and stayed there. He died later at the accident site.
The injured Lower Austrian was only found around three and a half hours later. The resuscitation measures initiated were unsuccessful. An autopsy was ordered because the cause of death could not be determined.
Second fatal accident
It was the second fatal skiing accident last weekend. Bachmanninger entrepreneur Reinhard Pregartbauer died in Wagrain on Saturday. As reported, the 46-year-old collided with a Dutch vacationer while driving. He suffered such serious injuries that rescue workers could not do anything for him. He died a little later.
