In agreement with Mayor Markus Vogl (SP), it is proposed to the mandataries to support themselves with 113,800 euros per year for the duration of their term of office.
In plain language this means: Steyr’s policy is giving itself a total of 682,800 euros at the expense of the taxpayer for the next six years. A possible inflation adjustment is not yet taken into account in this amount.
Neos municipal councilor Pit Freisais is sharply critical of this gift, just as it was six years ago, when politicians first granted themselves this extra income: “The application is silent about what such a large sum is being paid for.” Weeks ago he suggested to Vogl that he demanded accounting from the parties for this funding: “After his consultation with the other parties, I was informed that this was unanimously rejected.” He is now planning a supplementary application for an accounting obligation.
Specifically, 4,000 euros are to be distributed per parliamentary group and year in the future, 4,975 euros for each city senate member and 1,500 euros for each municipal council. The largest beneficiary of this monetary gift will be the SP with 54,375 euros per year, in total 326,250 euros. The FP receives 24,450 euros annually, the VP 17,975 euros, the Greens 8,500 euros, the MFG 7,000 euros and Neos 1,500 euros.
