In the future, TNMS Altheim will also become a specialist school for STEM subjects

The “digi.TNMS” Altheim is one of seven schools in Upper Austria that is planning the school trial MINT school from the school year 22/23. MINT disciplines (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology) are increasingly in demand, and many companies in the vicinity of the Altheim School are looking for workers in this field. MINT focuses in particular on girls, as they are often given too little support in this direction.

New technologies are influencing more and more areas of our lives, and progressive digitization is accelerating this development. According to the project planners, the demands on young people in the job market have changed significantly.

The MINT middle school represents a contribution to reducing the shortage of skilled workers and increasing the proportion of women in MINT at secondary level I.

Graduates should be encouraged to see relevant professions and educational paths as options. Application-oriented, practical and research-based learning is made possible in the STEM subjects. Project-oriented work, in which the most diverse areas are linked to one another, plays a central role, as does cooperation with external partners. MINT is also listed as a separate subject in the school trial.

The digi.TNMS Altheim has already shown with a well-founded digital education, which extends over the entire lesson, and additional offers in the field of gifted education, that a modern education based on a solid basic education is a big concern. From the coming school year 2022/23, the Altheim school will be one of seven STEM schools in the state. The already existing focus “digi.TNMS” will be retained.

Anyone who would like to find out more about the training and the admission criteria for the MINT class in Altheim can find out more on January 20 from 7 p.m. as part of an online presentation.
