The “Agrarium” landscape and leisure park on the grounds of Almegg Castle, founded by Erich Preymann in 1993, has been saved. After Preymann’s death in 2022, the operating company had to file for bankruptcy in April 2024. On the same day that he heard this news from the media, the Alkovn entrepreneur Michael Eder called the liquidator. There were several applicants for the area, but the landowner family Van Handel ultimately decided in favor of Michael Eder, who employs around 60 people in his forestry and garden service company.

Work has started

“In the back of my mind I’ve had the desire to manage a park for a long time, now was the chance,” says Eder in an interview with OÖNachrichten. The 47-year-old has big plans for the ten-hectare site. The father of two sons has already started demolishing the aging facilities. In a first step, he will invest around half a million euros.
