Information about the deterioration in the health of the judge considering the preventive measure for the ex-president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko came from the deputies in the courtroom. This was announced to Izvestia by the head of the headquarters of the European Solidarity party, Alexander Turchinov.
According to him, everyone was summoned to the hall to announce the decision. Petro Poroshenko, deputies and prosecutors were also present. After that, they reported that the judge was not able to announce the decision – “what he himself wrote or was dictated to him”, because he became ill. An ambulance was called to court.
“I can’t provide detailed information and the judge’s diagnosis, because I don’t have such information,” the politician said.
Turchynov added that it is not clear whether the judge will announce a break in the meeting or announce the verdict of the court as the policy is suppressed. Turchynov stressed that people are afraid to commit crimes and are so nervous that they feel bad. He called the criminal case against Poroshenko falsified.
Earlier that day, the office of the Pechersk Court of Kiev denied the information that the judge, who is considering a measure of restraint for ex-president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, became ill. The fact that the judge became ill was reported by Channel 24.
Poroshenko is a defendant in the case of treason, a preventive measure for which the Pechersk Court of Kiev should issue on Monday. The politician arrived that day in Kiev from Poland.
At the airport, he was met by employees of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) of the country, and his supporters were waiting for the politician at the air harbor building. Representatives of the State Bureau of Investigation prevented Poroshenko from going through passport control and took away his identity document, which they later returned.
On the same day, the prosecutor’s office asked the court to arrest Poroshenko for two months, providing for the possibility of posting a bail of $35.7 million. The prosecution also asks the court to oblige the ex-leader of the country to hand over his passports and wear an electronic bracelet if the court decides to post bail.
At the same time, the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that the politician was on the domestic wanted list at the initiative of the country’s security service. As specified in the department, the former Ukrainian leader “disappeared” on December 24 last year. They considered that Poroshenko was “hiding from the pre-trial investigation authorities.” Later, the ex-president’s profile was removed from the department’s website.
The former Ukrainian leader is being investigated for possible involvement in high treason. The investigation believes that Poroshenko disrupted the contracted deliveries of coal from South Africa in the fall of 2014. Instead, coal was purchased in the Donbass.
