The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine does not know about the evacuation of Russian diplomats from Kiev

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine did not receive information from the Russian side about the evacuation of employees of the Russian Embassy from the country. This was announced on Tuesday, January 18, by the representative of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Oleg Nikolenko.

“The embassies of other states in Ukraine also did not report their intentions to evacuate their employees,” Interfax quoted him as saying.

Nikolenko stressed that at the moment the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry itself does not plan to evacuate its diplomats from Russia. He noted that the Ukrainian embassy in Moscow, as well as the general consulates in St. Petersburg and Rostov-on-Don, the consulates in Yekaterinburg and Novosibirsk are working as usual.

The New York Times published information the previous morning, citing American and Ukrainian officials, that Russia had allegedly begun to evacuate its diplomats from Ukraine. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation denied this information and reported that the Russian embassy in Kiev was operating normally.

Earlier in the morning, Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergei Naryshkin said that Russia is striving to build good neighborly and mutually beneficial relations with Ukraine. He noted that Russia has done a lot for Ukraine to take place as an independent state.

On January 16, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov noted that Russia does not show military escalation against Ukraine. These are U.S. claims that have not provided evidence for the allegations.

On January 15, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said that Russia could attack Ukraine between mid-January and mid-February. According to her, before the “invasion”, the Russian Federation will undertake information operations against Ukraine, accusing Kiev of preparing attacks on the Donbass. On the same day, United States Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland said that Washington had prepared 18 different scenarios for restrictive measures in the event of a Russian “attack” on Ukraine, the details of which she refused to disclose.

On January 10, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov noted that Russia had no intentions to attack Ukraine and could not have. He stressed that all measures for the combat training of troops are carried out within Russian territory.
