Ginés González Garcíaformer Minister of Health of the Nation, passed away this Friday at the age of 79 as a result of a tough fight against cancer for which he was hospitalized in the Callao Surgical Institute.
Last Thursday, the Federal Chamberhe had confirmed his prosecution within the framework of the investigation by the “VIP vaccination center“, during the Covid-19 pandemic.
His family posted on social media a release to say goodbye and remember him: “Today, while we mourn his departure, we also celebrate his life. We will remember his laughter, his always different look, his ideals for a better Argentina“.
Cause “VIP Vaccination”
The Federal Chamber Buenos Aires, confirmed this Thursday the prosecution of Ginés González García, for alleged “abuse of authority and sinful“, within the framework of the “VIP Vaccination” due to the pandemic during the government of Alberto Fernández.
He Court of Appeals reduced the embargoes that federal judge María Eugenia Capuchetti had ordered, and set them at $20 million for the former Minister of Health, $18 million for Alberto Maceiradirector of the Posadas Hospital, and $10 million for Marcelo Guille and Alejandro Costaformer Undersecretary of Health Strategies.
Outstanding achievements of his management
Gonzalez Garcia began his career as health minister but of the Province of Buenos Airesbetween 1988 and 1991, under the provincial administration of Antonio Cafiero. Was ambassador in Chile during the presidency of Cristina Kirchner until the inauguration of Mauricio Macri, and returned to the political scene in 2019 when Alberto Fernández appointed him health minister.
During his management, regarding the matter of birth rate and sexualitydeveloped a plan based on the sex education and the free distribution of contraceptives and condoms. On several occasions he spoke out and showed himself in favor of the decriminalization of abortionand accompanied the sanction of the rule at the end of 2020.
