It is noted that the Russian Embassy in Sudan has taken all necessary measures to ensure security. Diplomats are in constant contact with Russian citizens who are and live in Sudan.

Earlier, the Sudanese police confirmed the death of seven citizens as a result of the dispersal of protests on January 17-18. It was noted that there were many casualties among the protesters and security forces.

The protesters actively used edged weapons and Molotov cocktails during the actions.

Protests in the country are held weekly, demonstrators oppose the power of the military.

Thus, on October 25, the Sudanese military detained Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok and several other members of the government. The politicians were placed under house arrest. The measures caused discontent in society, protests began.

In late November, the Sudanese military and the ousted Hamdok agreed on a political declaration that would see him return to the premiership and form a government of technocrats. One of the points of the declaration was the release of all political prisoners in the country. In early January, Sudanese Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdoka announced his resignation due to violations by the Sudanese military of the agreements under the November agreement. The politician announced that he was resigning on January 2 amid the crisis and demonstrations in the country.
