The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is somewhat more optimistic about Austria next year than the domestic economic researchers. For this year, the IMF, like the local economists from Wifo and IHS, is forecasting a decline in economic output of 0.6 percent. For the coming year, the Monetary Fund confirmed previous forecasts with real GDP growth of 1.1 percent than Wifo (+1 percent) and IHS (+0.8 percent).
The IMF expects inflation for Austria to rise by 3 percent this year and then 2.5 percent in 2025. Wifo and IHS recently forecast an inflation rate of 3.1 and 3.0 percent (2024) and 2.2 and 2.2 percent respectively. 2.4 percent (2025).
Weak development in Germany
The International Monetary Fund expects stagnation for Germany this year, with manageable growth of 0.8 percent expected in 2025, as the financial organization announced on Tuesday in Washington. The previous forecasts from July were reduced by 0.2 and 0.5 percentage points respectively.
