It was around 1:30 p.m. when the state fire brigade command received the alarm: a fire had broken out in the roof area of a residential building in the municipality of St. Martin im Mühlkreis for reasons that were still unclear. The flames are likely to have spread quickly.
Alert level 3 declared
As soon as the first emergency services arrived, a cloud of black smoke that was visible from afar indicated the extent of the fire. The alert level has been increased to 3, and a total of 12 fire departments from the surrounding area with numerous vehicles are on site.
