Doctor threatened colleagues with killing because he advised pregnant women not to be vaccinated

A 68-year-old community doctor reported to the Vöcklabruck police about a worrying text message he had received from a colleague. A 62-year-old doctor was investigated and already questioned. She wrote that she would come by with a Kalashnikov, a police spokesman reported. The reason: the community doctor is said to have advised breastfeeding mothers or pregnant women against a Covid vaccination.

The woman admitted writing the message because she disagreed with her colleague, her motive. The vaccination advocate was reported to the public prosecutor’s office on suspicion of the dangerous threat.

The Upper Austrian Chamber of Physicians has not yet been able to answer whether the community doctor can expect legal consequences. The National Vaccination Panel advises pregnant women who are not yet or not fully vaccinated to be injected in the second or third trimester. In addition, the Ministry of Health points out on its website that “the vaccine itself is not passed on to the child” but only “the protective antibodies of the mother – and that before birth and afterwards during breastfeeding”.
