The Government advances with a RIGI for SMEs

The Government advances with a project similar to the Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI), but focused on small and medium-sized companies. From the Casa Rosada they confirmed to Scope that the initiative will be reflected in a bill that will be debated in Congress. This week, at an industrial chamber event, The Chief of Staff, Guillermo Francos, stated: “We are looking for a RIGI for all business and productive activity”. The measure that Secretary Marcos Ayerra is working on would bring tax relief for future projects of less than US$200 million.

Since the enactment of the Bases Law until now, different business and mainly industrial entities have filed complaints about the disadvantaged situation in which small and medium-sized companies were left in the face of the new regulatory framework. Since for this type of firms it is practically impossible to make investments of the amount stipulated in the law.

In the round trip, Officials recognized the entities’ need to generate a framework for smaller projects. This even led to the presentation of a “SME bill” in Congress, which so far shows little progress in parliamentary matters.
