The Swedish furniture store Ikea announced in a statement that those not inoculated without medical justification will receive only the legal minimum sick pay.
While for virus-related absences, vaccinated or unvaccinated employees who have particular reasons such as pregnancy or other medical issues will receive full pay.
In turn, non-immunized Morrisons supermarket workers who have to isolate, but who test negative, now receive lower sick pay than previously contemplated.
Until now, staff who tested positive for Covid received full sick pay, regardless of their vaccination status.
Speaking to The Guardian newspaper, CEO Dave Potts mentioned that this policy is part of a plan to deal with the high costs of the coronavirus pandemic.
Under Morrisons policy, if an uninoculated worker is told they have been exposed to the virus, they will only receive statutory sick pay equal to the legal minimum when they self-isolate.
Also the giant clothing retailer Next, which employs about 44,000 people, said that all staff who test positive for coronavirus, regardless of whether they are vaccinated or not, receive full pay.
However, any staff member who is not immunized and must self-isolate because they have been identified as a close contact will only receive statutory sick pay unless there are extenuating circumstances.
