
On Monday morning there was a deadly act of violence in Mühlviertel, Upper Austria. The victim is the mayor of the municipality of Kirchberg ob der Donau, Franz Hofer (ÖVP), in the Rohrbach district. A second man from the region is also said to have been shot, it is Josef. H., a former hunting leader and police officer.

The fugitive suspect, Roland Drexler, is said to be a very experienced hunter who has been part of the hunting community for years. The man probably bred and trained hunting dogs. Long-standing arguments with other hunters are also said to be the background to the rampage.
