The objective of the meeting is to talk with workers, businessmen and social movements, Poli explained. “We want to collaborate in the Dialogue Table of production, work, job creation, the possibility of reducing unemployment. We must move forward with the dialogue with all the actors in the province of Buenos Aires and as a man from Quilmes it would be a pride for him to come”held.
The idea of the invitation arose last week, when Poli and other union members gathered around a political union table of the Quilmes-Florencio Varela-Berazategui regional. ““I spoke to my colleagues and they unanimously said that we should move forward,” he commented.
From that moment on, Poli contacted Luis Chervoeconomic and political consultant and former advisor to the 62 Peronist Organizations to build bridges and contacted the authorities of the Catholic Church. Shortly thereafter, the letter was channeled diplomatically through Monsignor Daniel Liessithe charge d’affaires of the Apostolic Nunciature.

But they also added the possibility of visiting the recently set up clinics, especially, the San Francisco Solano Child and Family Clinicwhere they specialize in care for older adults. The Pope’s interest in the need for care of the elderly is knownand in the remiseros federation, they welcome an opportunity for him to visit the union’s clinics.
In fact, last July Jorge Bergoglio led the IV World Day of Grandparents and the Elderlywhere he asked for more closeness with adults. “Let us not stop showing our tenderness to the grandparents and the elders of our families, let us visit those who are discouraged or who no longer hope that a different future is possible. To the selfish attitude that leads to discarding and loneliness, let us contrast the open heart and the joyful face of those who have the courage to say “I will not abandon you!” and to embark on a different path”held.

The Pontiff’s request was in line with the motto of the Day (“In old age do not abandon me”), inspired by Psalm 71. Thus, the Bishop of Rome explained that “God never abandons his children,” “not even when age advances and strength falters, when gray hair appears and social status declines, when life becomes less productive and runs the risk of seeming useless.”
The text of the original letter to Pope Francis sent to the Vatican:
POPE FRANCIS I
S/D
Buenos Aires, October 29, 2024
Of my greatest consideration:
My name is Alejandro POLI, I am currently Secretary General of the Argentine Federation of Remises of the Argentine Republic and Member of the Union Board based in the City of QUILMES, Province of Buenos Aires.
We approach the good offices of Luis Chervo, who was a collaborator and friend of Lorenzo Miguel, after Momo Venegas in the 62 Organizations, and the same of Carlos Alberto Reutemann.
The reason for this visit to the Nunciature of the City of Buenos Aires is to express verbally and through this note, our INVITATION to visit the City of QUILMES on your next visit to the Argentine Republic, especially for two specific reasons.
Our first reason is for you to visit the facilities of one of our five clinics in which we provide service exclusively to the Elderly, for which we constantly receive congratulations from Relatives, recovered patients, Doctors, Nurses, Health Personnel who intervene, for the quality human nature that we carry forward with solidarity and dedication, so that these people who are often excluded from life, due to intra-family issues or lack of means and resources, overcome the wounds of the years.
Second reason, to hold a Meeting between Forces of Workers, Entrepreneurs, Living Forces, Displaced Movements, Unions, to build what you experienced in person with the Argentine Dialogue Table promoted by the United Nations Program for Development and Catholic Church in 2002, and on the other hand the fraternal experience that the Santa Fe brothers have been developing, with the Dialogue Table, since 2004, in the City of Santa Fe, after the waters of the Salado flood a large part of the City , and under the inspiration of Monsignor José María Arancedo.
It is unnecessary to describe what the AMBA suffers from the open wound, that is, the City of Buenos Aires, which you know so well is not only a few Avenues and lights, it is also a large part of marginalization and poverty, which is why today it is grouped in the social and economic analysis to the rest of the 39 Municipalities of Greater Buenos Aires, same pain and same anguish.
With the creation of a TABLE FOR DIALOGUE AND THE MEETING OF AMBA, we would have a way to, together with the Nation and Province of Buenos Aires, mitigate and subdue the shame that we have today and that hurts all of us, more than half of the poor in our Municipalities, and this results in work, production and human development.
Finally we express that this proposal that wants to collaborate with dialogue, with brotherhood, with respect between all components, but at the same time reach the action of concrete facts that surpass this reality, when we begin with our experience in Solano, In our first clinic, they told us how you are going to get into that, and now, soon to inaugurate the fifth, we know that with love for your neighbor, with commitment for others, you can reach something that is more than 2,000 years old, the social justice that Jesus of Nazareth practiced.
Jorge Novak, in his first homily as Bishop of Quilmes, left us this message;…”that modest, servant and crucified love that Jesus taught us and that his Spirit continues to vigorously renew in the members of his Body, which is us. It tells us something: to give ourselves without pause, without disappointments, without tiredness at the wrong time…
Affectionately and with the hope that you accept our humble invitation, Alejandro Poli.
