“Vaccination madness”: the local boss is tough on the VP tip

Adi Hinterholzl is not someone who keeps his opinion behind the mountain. Also towards the federal government: In 2011, the mayor of Eidenberg sent the then Minister of Social Affairs Hundstorfer a letter to draw attention to imbalances in the financing of old people’s homes – and enclosed a 100 euro note.

Now the VP politician rumbles against his own party leadership: After publicly speaking out against compulsory vaccination in December, he sent an email to club chairman August Wöginger and district party chairman Michael Hammer this Sunday: “It will be the day of waking up from Vaccination madness will come to Austria, I’m quite sure of it,” Hinterholzl writes in it.

Until last summer, Hinterholzl said he was a staunch supporter of vaccination. But then the mistakes of the federal government would have accumulated and the pressure on the unvaccinated had increased to an extent that he could no longer accept. In view of the Omicron variant, the vaccination for everyone is a non-starter, says Hinterholzl, citing the youngest après-ski cluster as an argument: “The unvaccinated weren’t there at all. So you can undoubtedly speak of a wave of boosted skiers .”

Hinterholzl is not generally against the corona vaccination: it makes sense for the elderly and those at risk. However, he firmly rejects compulsory vaccination for everyone over the age of 18.
