The Government had postponed the July increases that were going to be paid in August. At that time, the decision was made, in principle, with the intention of supporting the recovery of the purchasing power of the population, official sources assured. However, they rose again in September.

In the first days of September, the Government confirmed increases of 4% on average in gas and electricity services. As indicated, this measure was taken “in order to guarantee a sustainable and equitable gas supply for all users, avoid shortages and ensure the economic viability of the energy sector.”
The Government is betting that, given that in the spring, the demand for gas and electricity usually drops due to higher temperatures, The final average increase of 4% in bills will be offset in households by the drop in quantities consumed.
