Popeye is one of the most iconic animated characters of all time. Created by Elzie Crisler Segarfirst appeared in the comic strip Timble Theater from King Features Syndicate, in the edition of The New York Evening Journal of the January 17, 1929.
As he is usually characterized, Popeye is a friendly sailor, distinguished by his independence, his humor and his incredible physique. In fact, when you eat spinach, your strength grows to superhuman levels.

Always dressed in blue, this character faces his enemies with his only left eye, and it was never revealed how he lost his right one. Its name comes from English “Pop-eye”which means protruding eye but refers to his sleeping eye, a common term in seafaring slang.
