The leaders of the Mapuche Confederation of Neuquén they took advantage of Patricia Bullrich visIta the province to launch the anti-blockade squad to invite it to participate in a “constructive and symmetrical” dialogue in Vaca Muerta to “find solutions.”
This is the letter that the Mapuche published on social networks, with Bullrich’s invitation and the reasons why they want to dialogue with the Minister of National Security.
Ms. Minister of Security of Argentina
As pu Logko and pu Werken (political authorities of the Mapuche nation people), aware of your visit to the region, we want to extend an invitation to a constructive and symmetrical dialogue in our house. We are part of an original civilization that has conceived of dialogue as the way to find solutions. And the Xawvn (meeting) as the collective experience of the circulation of the word, public and political.
We consider that accepting a visit to our community territory in what they now call “Vaca Muerta” can allow you to get to know a culture that is unknown to you. With an ancient worldview that does not conceive of life if it is not in interrelation with its natural environment. Not as an “owner”, but as a “part” of this Mapu or Wallmapu. If you are interested and manage to understand the kimvn/knowledge of our Pillan Kuse (religious authority), you will assume that this region is not just a space to exploit and burst in search of income or quick profit.
If you manage to understand our language, the “mapuzugun/speak of the earth” will understand that everything here has an order, the order that nature itself commands us: that the biodiversity that surrounds us is the “ensemble of all lives” where none There is plenty of life and on the contrary, any that is missing or damaged will generate an imbalance that sooner rather than later will hit us as humanity.
The invitation we extend to you is to speak looking each other in the eyes, without masks or hidden faces. No uniforms or painted faces. Even less with armed forces guarding. If you listen to the word of our logko you will understand that there are no terrorists or pseudo interlocutors. We are families that have existed since before the State was created in these lands. Thousands of years before the Argentine and Chilean State was installed over our lives two centuries ago.
You will understand how valuable it is to imagine a Plurinational State where all the cultures, all the knowledge, all the repressed languages, all the worldviews and practices that enrich the societies that open to that coexistence can fit. You will see that all of them exist by decision, by conscience, by infinite love for our grandparents and ancestors who defended these values that make us strong and powerful against any attempt at colonization or cultural repression.
That’s why we are unbreakable. Even though we cry every day for Santiago, for Rafita, killed by the violence and impunity that you try to replicate again. We believe that through respectful dialogue you will accept the resounding failure of this inhumane methodology and will push back that machinery of death and repression that involves the camps or regiments that you plan to install in our backyards. Along with this, it assumes that the “civilization and progress” that Fracking represents and that it seeks to defend with rifles and commandos, leads us to a planetary crisis without retreat. We cannot allow this exploitation to continue at this rate without control or sanction when the impacts are visible to everyone and it is Wigka science itself that points to it as the cause of the global climate tragedy.
We do not have firearms for this defense, we do not have uniforms or painted faces. We have the reason for history, the authority of our logko and pijan kuse and the set of energies that represents the ixofijmogen that surrounds us and which we commit to defend in each gellipun, before our rewe/ceremonial center. If it is not enough for you, we have the Constitution, laws, agreements, and jurisprudence that supports our reasons.
Two centuries ago, a real Argentine hero tried and carried out this dialogue before crossing the Andes in the fight against the Spanish empire, agreeing and recognizing our rights over this space that you visit today.
Enter the circle of the Xawvn to which we summon you, Minister. View us with the respect and recognition that corresponds. Contribute to our objective of building a present where the security that Vaca Muerta wants to guarantee is breathing healthy air, today vitiated by tons of oil waste and permanent vents; that we can drink the water from our soil; May the earth that anguishes our nights and days not tremble; that we get out of systematic impoverishment; May the land once again be our healthy sustenance. For this objective, tanks, uniforms, bullets, gases, commandos, etc. are unnecessary. Useless structures that have not only failed, but entail enormous public budgets and all the possibilities of new deaths.
Madam Minister, we are waiting for your positive response from Mapuce hospitality. Do you feel capable of accepting our invitation to dialogue?
