Mask certificates via the Internet: Ausseer doctor fled to Tanzania

The criminal complaint from the public prosecutor’s office in Leoben cannot be served. As court spokeswoman Sabine Anzenberger said when asked on Thursday, the accused has no known normal place of residence.

Falsification and suppression of evidence

The doctor is accused of falsifying and suppressing evidence. The criminal complaint was served on the Liezen district court in December. This should now set a hearing date, but as long as the criminal complaint cannot be served, this is not possible, Anzenberger said. The accused is currently not resident in Austria and any residences abroad are also not known. The man probably fled to Tanzania in Africa a long time ago, from where he posts updates on his YouTube channel at irregular intervals. He has been an opponent of protective masks since the outbreak of the pandemic and attracted attention with downplaying words about Corona. A professional ban was imposed on him for this reason.

Up to a year imprisonment

According to the public prosecutor’s office, the doctor issued certificates with mask exemptions for around 20 patients who were known by name, without even having examined the women and men. Around 100 other cases, where the names are not known, are listed in the file. In addition, the doctor is said to have changed his passwords, for example for email accounts, after the house search and confiscation. This is considered suppression of evidence and has also been prosecuted. The accused faces up to a year in prison. However, there is no prospect of a hearing now.
