Corona Commission recommends looking at normal wards

Corona Commission recommends looking at normal wards

According to calculations by the committee, acute care in individual federal states is at risk from a occupancy rate of eleven percent, which corresponds to around 4,200 occupied beds. A value of 4.3 percent is expected for the beginning of February, roughly double the current level.

It could become difficult from an occupancy rate of around eight percent of all standard care beds for adults. Because from here only a pure acute operation of the hospitals can be guaranteed. As a further bottleneck, possible staff shortages in particular should be taken into account.

All of Austria in a high-risk zone

The traffic light keeps the Commission shining red. All federal states have moved a little further away from the orange area and are deep in the maximum risk zone.

The red zone begins as early as a risk number of 100, which, in addition to the number of cases, also takes into account the vaccination status, among other things. The consistently best federal state, Burgenland, is at 432. Even the 2,000 mark was broken in the past week, namely in Tyrol, which has a value of 2,212. In all districts of Austria and consequently also in all federal states, the 14-day trend in new infections is upwards.

Strongest increase in Upper Austria

The most recent increase was in Upper Austria with 106 percent. But Salzburg, which still has the most favorable development in this regard, is still clearly on the way up with a plus of 68 percent.

A lot was tested last week. Based on 100,000 inhabitants, the national average was 106,499. Of course, this high value is due to the willingness to test in the East. All three federal states (as the only ones) have a value of over 100,000. With a good 149,000 tests per 100,000 inhabitants, Vienna has more than twice as many as Upper Austria, at the bottom, with almost 73,000.

Logically, more asymptomatic cases are also discovered in this way, which means that further spread can be better contained. Vienna is clearly at the top here with a 44 percent share of positive tests, but this time Vorarlberg also has a high value of asymptomatic at 40 percent, although relatively little was tested in the far west. Calculated across Germany, only 31 percent of the infections discovered in which the patients were currently without symptoms.

Highest incidence in ski resorts

The source is not revealed very often either, namely only in 36 percent of infections. This is slowly moving back into the number regions like during the delta wave in late autumn, when contact tracing was also almost impossible to maintain.

As far as the raw number of cases is concerned, this time a Styrian district has the lowest values, namely Deutschlandsberg, followed by Wolfsberg in Carinthia and Voitsberg again in Styria. As far as corona infections are concerned, life is most dangerous in the ski areas of the west. Landeck in front of Kitzbühel and St. Johann im Pongau has the highest incidence.
