As noted in Mars, the company’s management hopes that society will be more inclusive in the future, and therefore the goal of updating the M&M’s brand will be “creating a world in which no one will feel left out.”

The color of the arms and legs of M&M’s characters has undergone changes. If before they were a pronounced flesh color, now the designers decided to paint them in a more neutral color, close to white.

In addition, two female characters received new pairs of shoes. Now the brown character will wear mid-heeled shoes instead of stilettos. And instead of high-heeled boots, candy green will have sneakers on its feet. Makeup of female characters will be more neutral.

Together, Mars spokesperson Jane Hwang said the two characters would be “a force to support women.”

Along with the visual changes, the voices and personalities of the advertising characters have also been updated to be “more inclusive, welcoming and unifying.” At the same time, the company promises that the characters will retain their “wit and sense of humor” inherent in them.
