Vasily Makar, a cadet of the National Academy of Ground Forces of Ukraine, together with former border guard Maryan Pavlyukh, illegally crossed the border with Poland while walking in the forest. This was reported by Zaxid.net on Thursday, January 20.
It is noted that the incident occurred on Christmas morning, January 7, near the village of Lopushanka, Sambir district. When the men were detained, they were so drunk that they did not remember exactly how and why they crossed the border.
The Turkovsky District Court eventually fined both violators for UAH 8,500.
The case file states that in the early morning of January 7, the Ukrainian border guards of the Lopushanka department were informed by their Polish colleagues that two Ukrainian citizens tried to cross the border with Poland, but they managed to escape from the border guards and hide.
After this message, Ukrainian border service inspectors began to search for the men. During the search, the border guards discovered that the fugitives had damaged the fence at the border and left traces behind them. Border guards detained two men on the outskirts of the village of Lopushanka, Lviv region.
One of the detainees turned out to be a former border guard, this is 25-year-old Marian Pavlyukh, the second is Vasily Makar, a third-year cadet of the National Academy of Land Forces in Lviv.
The violators explained in court that on the eve of the incident they drank alcohol all night, and closer to the morning they decided to take a walk. Both do not remember how and why they ended up near the border with Poland.
Earlier, on October 25, the mayor of the Klaipeda region of Lithuania Bronius Markauskas, commenting on his detention at the Russian-Lithuanian border, noted that he did not make a good guide.
