47 catering establishments were checked on Thursday evening, twelve adverts were issued, said Kitzbühel district police commander Martin Reisenzein. However, these were not après-ski parties, but minor violations such as unauthorized standing at the bar and non-compliance with the mask requirement.
Exceeding the curfew at 10 p.m. was also found here and there. According to Reisenzein, most of the owners of the bars were reported. Overall, the situation in the city was “very quiet” both on Thursday evening and during the departure on Friday. “Quieter than on a normal Friday in the winter season,” Kitzbühel’s chief police officer described the new Hahnenkamm reality. In any case, the executive never had to intervene on a large scale.
“Nip parties in the bud”
Authorities and the police had announced strict controls in advance to prevent parties. Police officers would swarm out in the city every day to “nip possible excesses in the bud and give the isolated ‘black sheep’ no opportunity to celebrate unauthorized parties,” the state said.
Those responsible were startled by a video in a bar that made headlines last weekend. It was posted by Runtastic founder Florian Gschwandtner, who celebrated there. It showed how the guests without masks at the bar and sometimes dancing on tables had après ski. Only 1,000 spectators are allowed at each race.
