Private provision: Increase in health

This is the result of an Imas survey commissioned by savings banks and Wiener Städtische Versicherung, which was presented yesterday at an online press conference.

Above all, the demand for provision products in the health sector, but also for pensions, has increased significantly. “The number of health insurance companies rose by 37 percent last year,” said Herbert Walzhofer, director of the Sparkasse Oberösterreich. The number of contracts concluded rose by 29 percent to 1,400, premiums rose by 37 percent to 19.4 million euros.

trend towards sustainability

Even if the “classics” still dominate when investing – savings accounts, life insurance and home loan savings – the importance of securities has increased significantly. Fund savings plans in particular are used by 30 percent of investors. And here, above all, sustainable funds are in demand, said Walzhofer. The savings bank board director does not expect that the trend towards more precautions could reverse again after the pandemic. “The need has burned in, it won’t go away.” (hn)
