Take some milk chocolate, fill it with a mixture of pistachio and crunchy “angel hair” – a sweet pastry from the Balkans – and you’ve created the perfect social media hit. At least that’s how it seems, because there has been a real rush for chocolate creations in recent months: the Spar branch Certa in Vienna had to ration the trend bars. Videos on social media have been viewed millions of times. The sweet snack is being traded at record prices on eBay.
From Dubai to Austria
The recipe originally comes from Sarah Hamouda, the owner of Fix Dessert Chocolatier in Dubai. The sweet treat only really became known through social networks, although it is not clear who started the hype first. The food influencer Maria Vehera generated a record number of more than 98 million clicks with her TikTok video.

Numerous other manufacturers have now taken the demand as an opportunity to produce the online phenomenon themselves. Even in Austria, where new flavors are constantly being created in the Viennese Spar branch Certa in the tenth district: Nutella, caramel, peanut, nougat – there seem to be no limits to your imagination.
Expensive morsel
The Swiss chocolate manufacturer Lindt also recently jumped on the trend – with a limited edition of 1,000 pieces. 150 grams of the luxury candy can be auctioned on eBay for over 200 euros.
