After the successful friendlies against the two Bundesliga clubs SK Rapid Vienna (4:2) and SV Ried (1:1), SK BMD Forward Steyr dueled in the third test gallop for the spring season on Saturday with the traditional club Wiener Sport-Club. The Red and Whites celebrated a 3-2 away win against the third party in the East Regional League.
Defense chief Alberto Prada gave the SKV the lead on the artificial turf of the WSC training center after a free kick by Kevin Brandstätter after 24 minutes. However, the hosts equalized just ten minutes later with a remarkable free kick by Pajaczkowski into the cross corner. Only a minute later, however, the Steyrers were ahead again: Can Alak dusted off to make it 1:2 at the break.
Madlener is satisfied
In the second half, the Viennese equalized again through Küssler (73′). However, coach Daniel Madlener’s team didn’t let that bother them. Central defender Julian Turi, who was brought to the Reds by SV Ried, headed in after a free-kick cross from Oliver Filip to make it 2-3 (82′).
Vorwarts’ next test is on Saturday, January 29, away against Wacker Burghausen. Guest performances in Vöcklamarkt (February 1) and Unterhaching (February 3) follow.
“The game gave us good insights, it’s also great that we clinched a win,” says Madlener, “at times we played very well, but I still saw a lot of room for improvement. We have to keep improving.” He is very satisfied with the preparation so far. Every single player works very well. He feels that “there is a train in the team and fire is created.”
