It is the first time since the amendment to the Road Traffic Act (StVO) came into force on March 1st of this year that a speeding car has finally been accepted in Upper Austria and is now being auctioned off. With the amendment, if the speed exceeds 80 km/h in the local area and 90 km/h outside of town, the car can be confiscated and subsequently auctioned.
Since the beginning of November, you have been able to bid on the car online at the Dorotheum auction house. The online auction ends today at 1 p.m., and interested parties still have time to place a bid until then. At the moment (as of 7:50 a.m.) the highest bid is 2000 euros.
