The British Foreign Office’s statements about Russia’s alleged preparation to install a pro-Russian politician in power in Ukraine are nonsense. This was announced on Sunday, January 23, by the ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Yevgeny Muraev, whom the British called a potential candidate for the role of a puppet head of state.
The day before, the British department accused the Russian special services of allegedly planning to “imprison” Muraev in Ukraine as the head of state. At the same time, the Foreign Office did not provide any evidence.
“This is kind of stupid. I have been banned from entering Russia for four years now. If I had assets in Russia, they would be frozen, although I never had anything there, ”Ukrainskaya Pravda quoted Muraev as saying.
He also called for turning to the political program he outlined. According to the ex-deputy, it becomes clear from him that he and Russia have a different vision of the country’s development.
“It’s hard to imagine that I had any kind of communication with the Russians. I believe that the information that we are now seeing is unprofessionalism. Therefore, I hope for an apology, ”Muraev concluded.
British Justice Minister Dominic Raab said earlier in the day that the country’s authorities expressed their readiness to impose serious economic sanctions against Russia if an attempt is made to bring pro-Russian politicians to power in Ukraine.
The Russian Embassy in London on January 23 urged London to stop “stupid and dangerous” provocations. And she called the statement about preparations for regime change in Ukraine anecdotal and absurd.
Commenting on the statement of the Foreign Office, the Russian Foreign Ministry also called them nonsense and disinformation. The Russian ministry called on British colleagues to stop provocative activities and stop spreading nonsense, escalating tensions around Ukraine.
At the same time, on Sunday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova added that the British Foreign Office had prepared a stuffing in advance about plans to change power in Ukraine in the hope that Moscow would not respond in time. She called the actions of the British Foreign Office a malicious information aggression.
