Former UFC and Bellator fighter killed in Brazil

Former UFC fighter and Bellator tournament winner Mikel Falkan was stabbed to death on Sunday, January 23 in his hometown of Pelotas, Brazil. This was reported on January 23 by MMA Fighting.

According to him, the 40-year-old ex-athlete received several stab wounds in the stomach near the bar. Falkan was taken to the hospital at about 3 am, the doctors were unable to save his life.

Witnesses to the incident have yet to be found. The police have already launched an investigation into the attack on the former fighter, Sport-Express reports.

Falcan is known for his performances in Bellator, where he managed to win the middleweight Grand Prix. The Brazilian also fought in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Falkan has 40 wins and 20 losses. The Brazilian held his last fight on October 16, 2021 as part of the Serbian SBC promotion, losing to Nemanja Uverich.

In February 2013, Falcao lost to Russian Alexander Shlemenko by knockout in a fight for the Bellator middleweight title.

Earlier, on December 21, it became known that 32-year-old figure skater Dmitry Solovyov was beaten by three unknown people near a karaoke in the central district of the capital early in the morning. The athlete stood up for his girlfriend, curling player Anna Sidorova, after which a verbal skirmish broke out between him and three men, which later turned into a fight.
