Top speakers on ideas and expectations for the future

On March 26, renowned speakers will share ideas and experiences worth spreading.

TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design and originated from an annual innovation conference in Monterey, California. Various experts gave short lectures there about their new ideas, which were then published free of charge on the Internet. Over the years, the content of the innovation conference has expanded and today also includes topics such as business, global issues, culture, art and science.

Short speeches inspire

The idea seems to work. Around 33.8 million people worldwide now belong to the TEDx community. Since 2009, TEDx events have been held in 2,500 cities and 164 countries, with the “x” here standing for an independently organized TED event.

“I’m not surprised that this format is so well received,” says organizer Edith Öller, who brings TEDx to Rohrbach-Berg, “the audience can quickly benefit from the knowledge and experience of the speakers and be inspired.” Together with her team, consisting of Matthias Hofmann, Bettina Öller and Rita Schlagnitweit, she brings nine renowned speakers to Rohrbach-Berg. The speakers will illuminate the topic of the future from their specialist area. So will Tristan Horx from the Zukunftsinstitut Wien about the topic “Generations”, Rafael Bittermann (Vienna) tell about his city explorations with the camera, Martin Oller from Rohrbach are dedicated to the topics of innovation and smart homes, Eva Keffenheim from Vienna illuminate the topic of “education” and Kurt Matzler from Innsbruck report on his sporting successes at the Race Across America. Karin Huber-Heim (Vienna) will share her knowledge on the topic of “Circular Economy” with the audience, Siegfried Pöchtrager (Rohrbach) talks about nutrition and agriculture, Jutta Scheiblberger from Vienna lectures on the subject of media and art and Dominic Philip (Klagenfurt) deals with sustainability in architecture. Between the lectures there will be a dance and music performance to loosen things up Lara Nösslböck and Jakob Busch. Heike Haas will create a “Big Picture” of the entire event using “Graphic Recording”.

Coveted tickets

TEDx is a licensed non-profit event. “Everything is very strictly regulated and we have to comply with precise specifications,” says the organizer, “so unfortunately we are only allowed to sell 100 tickets for the live event.” Interested parties can obtain the coveted tickets online at www.eventbrite.at or from members of the organization team.
