The third vaccination means free travel to Austria from Monday. With the 12th amendment to the Covid 19 entry regulation, the list of virus variant areas has been completely emptied. This means that the PCR test requirement no longer applies for those who have been boosted from 14 Omikron pioneering countries, including Great Britain, Denmark, the Netherlands and Norway. Anyone who is “only” fully immunized still needs a current negative PCR test result.
In addition to the four European countries, South Africa and nine other southern African countries were also on the list of virus variant areas. The reason for the easing is that Omikron is now also the predominant corona virus variant in Austria. The amendment extends the validity of the ordinance by another month – until February 28th. Your other provisions remain unchanged. Apart from a few exceptions, such as for commuter traffic, Austria continues to only allow those who have been fully vaccinated and those who have recovered to enter the country. If they do not have a third vaccination, they need a PCR test that is no more than 48 hours old.
