Since today, 5 p.m., a 25 meter spruce tree has illuminated Linz’s main square. The tree comes from St. Florian (Linz-Land district) and is decorated with LED fairy lights. The Christmas markets are also now open.

Not everyone liked the Linz Christmas tree at first – “It looks a little like it was from the previous year,” said a Linz resident, for example, to the OÖNachrichten. On November 11th, the tree, which had quite some airy vegetation, was decorated by Linz AG – that is, it was thickened with branches and decorated for Christmas.

The lights at the Christmas market at the Volksgarten also went on for the first time today. A new illuminated entrance arch is considered the “entrance gate” to the wintry fairyland.
