That is almost 10,000 more positive tests than on Monday last week, the seven-day average rose to 23,764 cases per day. Nine more Covid deaths also mean that exactly 14,000 people in Austria have already died from or with the virus. Meanwhile, the number of Covid hospital patients has increased by 71 to exactly 1,200 since the previous day.
Within a week, the bed occupancy in the hospitals increased by 266 people affected by Covid. In Upper Austria (147 hospitalized on Monday) and Salzburg (85), the number of patients even increased by more than 50 percent. The situation was better for the seriously ill: 187 people were cared for in intensive care units across Austria on Monday. That number dropped by five since the previous day and by 25 patients in a week.
The seven-day incidence is 1,862 cases per 100,000 population. Since the beginning of the pandemic there have been 1,625,651 confirmed cases in Austria. 1,392,533 people have recovered since the outbreak of the epidemic, and 14,721 are considered healthy again within the past 24 hours. On Monday there were 219,118 active cases in Austria, 10,880 more than on Sunday. In the past seven days, 78 deaths have been recorded, that is 11.1 per day.
