Raids in Schladming bars because of fake vaccination cards

Around a dozen fake vaccination cards were discovered last week during raids on bars in Schladming and their operators at home. As the Styrian State Police Headquarters announced on Monday in the run-up to the “Night Race”, investigations are being carried out into nine suspects. A bar operator confessed to purchasing fake vaccination cards and reselling them, all but one. Another local operator is said to have supported him with the “order”.

The starting point of the investigation was an anonymous tip from Salzburg, said police spokesman Markus Lamb in the APA interview. It was said that fake vaccination cards were being used in an après-ski bar in Schladming. The suspicion was confirmed after the first investigations by the police. The public prosecutor’s office in Leoben then ordered house searches – including in the bars of two suspects and in their private residences. The police were supported by IT experts from the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) in Styria and document experts from the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA).

One of the two bar operators admitted during interrogation that he had bought seven fake vaccination cards and resold all but one of the others. Fake vaccination cards were also secured from his accomplice, who also runs a restaurant in Schladming. There were almost a dozen in all.

During the house searches, numerous data carriers were also found, which are now being evaluated. A total of nine suspects were identified. You are reported on suspicion of forgery. The backers are still being sought.
