As long as there is no extreme cold weather in the coming weeks, 20 trees are to be planted in an initial phase before Christmas. The reason for the visual redesign is, among other things, the State Garden Show, which will take place in Schärding next year.

The state horticultural show planner Tobias Micke from the office “ST raum a.” The ideas developed were discussed in the committees and decided accordingly. “We chose a different type of tree for each area of ​​the town square. A total of five different tree species are used. These were selected very carefully, are suitable for the city center and are also bee-friendly,” says Micke. The furniture in the town square will also be renewed as part of this project. An overall concept is being developed for the entire city, which includes, among other things, new benches. The extent to which the Christopher Fountain will be redesigned to accommodate the greening has not yet been determined. According to the municipality, corresponding investigations by specialist companies and discussions with the Federal Monuments Office are still ongoing. “We are pleased that it is finally starting. The population, but also the visitors, are already looking forward to this project,” agree Mayor Streicher and Deputy Mayor Stefan Wimmer (SP), who is responsible for greening the town square.
