Special envoy, the new position of the Trump administration

The position of special envoy for Ukraine and Russia has not existed in the administration of outgoing President Joe Biden. The president led international support for Ukraine to confront the Russian invasion. Trump, on the other hand, questions the shipment of weapons to kyiv and has said that he could reach an agreement in 24 hours to end the conflict.

The Republican has not given details about how he wants to end the war, but Kellogg developed a plan that proposes conditioning the shipment of weapons to Ukraine. The document, titled “America First, Russia and Ukraine Later,” was written by Kellogg and the Former National Security Advisor Fred Fleitz.

There, both maintain that the war is at a “stalemate” and that “future US military aid would require Ukraine to participate in peace talks with Russia.” Ukraine fears that a plan of these characteristics would mean leaving the borders as the battle front is.which in practice would imply the annexation to Russia of the Ukrainian territories occupied by Russian forces.

Trump chose Jamieson Greer to occupy the top position in commerce. The official considered that China is a “generational challenge” for the United States and advocated for a strategic disengagement from the country. Greer played a key role in imposing tariffs on China during Trump’s first term.

Trump’s election was in line with political plans, including his promise to impose tariffs 25% on all imports from Canada and Mexico, and an additional 10% on Chinese products.
