Especially at the beginning of the year, many would feel so full of everything – not only in terms of food, but also full of material things, says Elisabeth Rabeder. “We have so much luxury around us and we don’t even see him anymore.”
So time for a fresh start. “Fasting helps us to get rid of burdens, not just weight, but also rigidity, black painting, whining,” says the head of the Marienschwestern spa center in Bad Mühllacken.
“When you fast, a whole new world opens up,” says Rabeder, who has written a new book about it. She wants to motivate people to fast and give them specific tips on how to start.
In it, the expert presents various methods – and explains exactly which one is suitable for whom. There are also tests to find the best personal program for everyone. In addition, there are “all-round carefree packages” – from the shopping list to simple, healthy recipes for any time of the day.


This is how a relief day works
Relief days with lots of vegetables and fruit are a tried and tested means of cleaning and activating the metabolism, says Elisabeth Rabeder. Which foods you choose that day is a matter of taste: rice, potatoes, oatmeal, but also vegetable soups and fruit are good. It is important to drink a lot on such days – preferably two to three liters of liquid such as water (preferably flavored with lemon juice or apple cider vinegar) or unsweetened herbal or fruit teas. Rabeder’s tip: enjoy the day, maybe treat yourself to a liver compress or a brush massage and generally take time for yourself. “Even one relief day brings a lot – you notice that immediately,” says Elisabeth Rabeder. “You feel a lot better and lighter.”
