Ukraine can prepare staged chemical attacks along the line of contact, following the example of those in Syria. However, the DPR hopes that Kiev will not apply this scenario. This was announced on Thursday, January 27, in an interview with Izvestiya by the head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, Denis Pushilin.
According to him, the armed formations of Ukraine are being strengthened both by personnel and equipment along the entire line of contact, but traditionally activity is manifested in the southern direction, in the area of Donetsk and Gorlovka.
As Pushilin clarified, the Ukrainian military is deploying anti-aircraft systems, howitzers, armored personnel carriers right in populated areas – and this is confirmed by OSCE reports.
According to the head of the DPR, Kiev can intensify provocative shelling of the houses of civilians in the republic. He pointed to the existence of information that 40 military personnel who had been trained under the guidance of instructors from the UK had arrived in Avdiivka to carry out provocations.
As Pushilin noted, there is no information about the preparation of sabotage by Ukraine or NATO countries in the direction of Crimea.
The Ukrainian authorities, he stressed, “played with tension”, and now it is “more and more difficult for them to maintain the situation inside Ukraine.”
