North Korea launched an unidentified projectile towards the Sea of Japan, Yonhap News Agency reported citing the South Korean military on Thursday, January 27.
Details about the projectile and possible damage from it are not reported. The launch of an unidentified projectile was confirmed in Japan.
“The launch follows a series of missile tests conducted by the DPRK this month,” Japan’s Kyodo news agency added.
North Korea on January 18 announced a test launch of tactical guided missiles. Two missiles were launched, which accurately hit the target.
On Monday, January 17, the South Korean military reported the launch of two ballistic missiles by North Korea from the Sunan Airport area in Pyongyang. A possible launch of a ballistic missile from the DPRK was warned by the Japanese Coast Guard earlier in the day, 10 minutes before the launch of unidentified projectiles towards the Sea of Japan.
On January 14, the DPRK launched an unidentified projectile in an easterly direction. The Japanese government responded by protesting to the North Korean authorities, Japanese Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi said.

US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield expressed the position of Washington, which proposed that the UN impose sanctions against Pyongyang for six ballistic missile launches from September 2021, since each of them was a violation of UN Security Council resolutions.
