This Thursday at 7 p.m. the greatest celebration of Argentine sports will be celebrated in the 70th edition of the Olympia Awardsorganized by the Circle of Sports Journalists at the Usina del Arte.

There will be a total of 43 shortlists where the best athletes of the year will be recognized in disciplines such as football, tennis, motorsports, rugby, among others. The best in each category will receive the prize Silver Olympia and only one athlete will take the Golden Olympia. In addition to the usual categories, this year Hugo Porta, a historical figure of the Argentine rugby team, will be honored and will receive the Brilliant Olympia. He will be the third athlete to receive this recognition. The other two that make up this select list are the former Gabriela Sabatini and the ex-boxer Santos Benigno Laciar.
On the other hand, there will be special recognition for those who stand out at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. First of all, Iñaki Basiloff and Brian Impellizzeri, who won gold medals, and then Hernán Urra, Alexis Chávez, Los Murciélagos, Fernando Vázquez, Antonio Ruiz Díaz, Paula Gómez, Juan Samorano, Rodrigo Romero, Stefanía Ferrando and Gustavo Fernández who also won medals.
The 50th anniversary of the Australian Masters title won by Guillermo Vilasthe historic gold medals obtained by the Golden Generation of Basketball and the soccer team at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and the first successes of Diego Maradona with the “Cebollitas”.
Lastly, the Evita Gamesthe championship obtained by the Ninth Division of Argentinos Juniors in 1974 and the recent triumph of Gustavo Costas in the Copa Sudamericana with Racing Club.
