The government of Javier Milei defined what it will do with the holidays of December 24 and 31

Finally, the Government will give staff leave of the national public administration on December 24 and 31, that was reported this Thursday in the Official Gazette. However, the ruling party explained that this measure does not reach banking and financial institutions.

In 2024, both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve fall on a workweek day. With a view to facilitating the classic holiday celebrations and give a boost to tourismthe Government decided to give administrative leave during both days.

The Government confirmed holiday for the festivities

With the publication of Decree 1108/2024 in the Official Gazette of that date, the Government confirmed that both December 24th and 31st will give staff leave of the national public administration. The measure bears the signature of President Javier Milei and the Chief of Staff Guillermo Francos.

In detail, the Government considered that Christmas and New Year “traditionally constitute a reason for celebrations for all Argentine and foreign families that live in our territory.” Along these same lines, they assured that these days “families carry out the preparations for your meetings“.

In that sense and with the objective of “ensure reasonable time for organization and enjoyment of family holidays”, the ruling party confirmed the holiday for all employees of the national public administration and thus “facilitate the classic meetings” that are held.

It should be noted that the holiday “does not reach banking institutions and financial entities”. Furthermore, from the libertarian administration they detailed that “this does not imply any budgetary expenditure for the NATIONAL STATE and will guarantee that all Argentines can enjoy the holidays in a framework of freedom.”

How does the ANSES payment schedule look like during Christmas week?

For its part, the National Social Security Administration (ANSES) announced the payment schedule corresponding to the last month of the year. It is worth remembering that December includes a update in amounts of benefits, due to the increase in 2.69%, corresponding to the index of inflation registered in October.

In detail, this update is due to the mobility formula governed by Decree 274/24and takes as a reference the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from two months ago. In addition, ANSES confirmed two additional payments for retirees and pensioners: the entity will deliver the bonus and a bonus of $70,000.

Considering that December is a particular month – with the recent confirmation of vacation for national public administration personnel -, ANSES announced its payment schedule. This seeks to guarantee that the beneficiaries access the amounts according to the established dates and, on the occasion of the Christmas celebrations, the entity modified the usual schedule collection of benefits:

Retirements and pensions that do not exceed the minimum:

  • DNI ending in 0: December 9
  • DNI ending in 1: December 10
  • DNI ending in 2: December 11
  • DNI ending in 3: December 11
  • DNI ending in 4: December 12
  • DNI ending at 5: December 12
  • DNI ending at 6: December 13
  • DNI ended at 7:13 December
  • DNI ended at 8:16 December
  • DNI ended at 9:16 December

Retirements and pensions that exceed the minimum assets:

  • DNI ending in 0 and 1: December 17
  • DNI ending in 2 and 3: December 18
  • DNI ending in 4 and 5: December 19
  • DNI ending in 6 and 7: December 20
  • DNI ending in 8 and 9: December 23
