The Commissioner for Monitoring and Combating Anti-Semitism of the Organization of American States (OAS) This Thursday he presented recognitions to the Project “Institutional Bridges”an outstanding Argentine initiative that has integrated institutions of the justice system in awareness and training on anti-Semitism.

Held at the headquarters of the Association of Magistrates and Officials of the National Justicethe event celebrated the collaboration between the entities promoting the project. There, those who contributed to consolidating it as a exemplary model in the region and a milestone for the inter-American system.

The Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Aguirrepresented recognition to various institutions of the justice system for their participation in the “Institutional Bridges” project. They were distinguished: Federal Court of Criminal Cassationchaired by Mariano Borinsky; the Association of Magistrates and Officials of the National Justicechaired by Andrés Basso; the General Defender of the Nationby Stella Maris Martínez; the Association of Jewish Lawyers of the Argentine Republicchaired by Hemán Najenson; he Holocaust Museum of Buenos Aireschaired by Marcelo Mindlin, and the officials Flora Acselrad, Mariana Kohan and Laura Kvitko.

Awareness and training programs

The event began with the words of the OAS High Commissioner, Fernando Lottenbergwho explained that the signed agreements have established an unprecedented model of inter-institutional cooperation. He also highlighted that these alliances have allowed the implementation of awareness-raising and training programs that integrate key actors in the judicial system in reflection and action against anti-Semitism, addressing fundamental issues such as human rights, historical memory and the prevention of crimes of hate.

The recognition given to the honorees highlighted the significance of their participation in the initiative, which promotes awareness and training of members of the judicial system in fundamental areas such as human rights, historical memory, the prevention of hate crimes and the fight against antisemitism. Furthermore, it was highlighted that the actions carried out not only recognize the achievements made, but also reinforce the shared principles: the firm belief that education, cooperation and mutual respect are essential to building a more equitable, inclusive society committed to diversity, at the core of our human condition.

In addition, Aguirre, and Lottenberg, the event was attended – in addition to the winners – by the ambassador of Brazil, Julio Bitelli; of the judge of the Federal Court of Criminal Cassation, Diego Barroetaveña; of the Prosecutor of said Chamber, Mario Villar of that of the Council of the Judiciary, Alejandra Provítola; of the former president of the DAIA, Jorge Knoblovits; of the executive director of “Latin American Jewish Congress”, Claudio Epelman; of the Oral Court judge, Ivana Bloch of the vice presidents of the AMFJN, Maria Carolina Ocampo and María Elena López; and the Prosecutor, Pablo Turano.
