Although the treatment is “satisfactory and very encouraging”, her recovery and dental treatment will take several weeks, the Prince’s Palace announced on Thursday. That is why the Princess is missing from the current celebrations of Saint Devote, the patron saint of Monaco.
Charlène is “generally exhausted”
Together with her husband, Prince Albert II, she wholeheartedly joins all Monegasques and residents on the occasion of the celebrations, the palace said. Charlène, who returned from South Africa at the beginning of November after health problems, has been receiving medical treatment outside the city-state ever since. The reason given by the princely palace was a state of general exhaustion.

Charlène suffers from physical and emotional exhaustion, her husband later explained in an interview. With the dental problems, the palace now made another reason for the treatment public.
Meanwhile, the royal couple asked that their privacy and that of their children continue to be respected. Charlène had just celebrated her 44th birthday. On this occasion, the Princess posted photos from her childhood and youth days on Instagram, as well as several that she shows together with Prince Albert.
Six months in South Africa
The Princess’ six-month stay in South Africa had fueled speculation on social media about a possible separation of the couple. In an interview, however, the prince emphasized that Charlène’s current stay outside of Monaco has nothing to do with their relationship. The Princess’ return from her home country of South Africa had been delayed due to a jaw surgery operation that had been carried out before her trip. When flying at high altitude, she was initially unable to compensate for the pressure in her ears. She was treated in the hospital several times.
Charlène met Prince Albert II (63), who is 20 years her senior, at a swimming competition in 2000, after she had competed for South Africa’s national team at the 2000 Olympic Games.
