“I put on a suit and shoot all the unvaccinated people. I’m fed up”: With these words, a 47-year-old from Welser said on an evening last November – five days before the fourth lockdown had just been imposed – vented his anger on the social media platform Twitter. He also posted a picture of a stun gun.
The 47-year-old then confessed and repented to the police when he was questioned. He cited his anger at all those people who were not vaccinated against Covid as the motive for this threat. He himself, on the other hand, has been vaccinated several times, is complying with all safety measures, hoping to be able to return to reality soon. This “broke the camel’s back,” said Welser, who said he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the threat. So he acted without thinking and posted the message. After his tweet had already attracted so many reactions after an hour, the Welser deleted it again.
A gun ban was imposed and the 47-year-old was reported to the public prosecutor’s office in Wels on suspicion of compulsory land use. This is a prison sentence of up to three years, said the spokeswoman for the Wels public prosecutor, Barbara Rumplmayr. The investigation has been completed and the suspicion is being examined.
