The Annual Complementary Salary (SAC), commonly known as bonus, is calculated by taking 50% of the best salary received in each semester of the year (January-June and July-December). In accordance with article 166 of the Employment Contract Law, holidays are days of mandatory rest. If a worker provides services on these dates, they must receive double their usual rate.

For example, if an employee with general duties and retirement has an hourly wage of $2,779, when working on a holiday, she must earn $5,558 for each hour worked. Furthermore, to guarantee payment for the holiday, the worker must have met certain conditions of attendance in the days before and after the holiday, according to article 168 of the LCT.

Current pay scales and increases for domestic staff by 2025

Despite closing 2024 with a cumulative increase of 71.5%, annual inflation reached 112%, which impacted the purchasing power of the sector. For 2025, the updated salary scales contemplate the following scales:

  • Supervisors: $3,351 per hour with withdrawal, $3,670 without withdrawal.
  • Professional Chefs: $3,173 per hour with withdrawal, $3,479 without withdrawal.
  • Homemade: $2,997 per hour.
  • Caregivers: $2,997 per hour with withdrawal, $3,351 without withdrawal.

The salary adjustment for the sector included an increase of 6.09% in two tranches, applied in September and October, which shows the need for new updates to mitigate the effects of inflation.
