San Luis split the local elections and will go to the polls on May 11

Among the changes promoted by the administration of Claudio Poggithe Legislature not only approved the implementation of the BUP, but also repealed the Lemas law.

In this way, on May 11 the renewal of half of the municipal legislative seats will also be put into play and 10 municipalities and municipal commissioners will elect their highest executive authorities.

There will be no Open, Simultaneous and Mandatory Primaries (PASO), nor its variant PAS, which at some point governed in San Luis. Parties that want to resolve their candidacies in internal elections must do so on their own, since they will not be financed by the provincial State.

The institutional advances in electoral matters are the result of the work carried out by the Commission for Analysis of the Current Electoral System, an initiative that enabled the necessary consensus to generate the legislation that allowed the updating of the electoral system and the exercise of political rights.

What is chosen in San Luis?

Half of the chambers of Senators and Deputies of San Luis, the mandates of some mayors and commissioned mayors that expire on December 10, 2025, and also half of the deliberative councils will be renewed.

The departments that will elect a titular provincial senator and an alternate will be: Belgrano, San Martín, Ayacucho and Pedernera. Meanwhile, citizens must also elect 22 regular provincial deputies and 22 alternates, divided as follows: 10 for the Pueyrredón department, three for Dupuy, three for Pringles, three for Junín and three for Belgrano.

The Government also invited the municipal mayors of the city of San Luis, Juana Koslay, La Punta, Potrero de los Funes, El Volcán, Villa Mercedes, Justo Daract, Buena Esperanza, Unión, Concarán, Tilisarao, Naschel, Quines, San Francisco del Monte de Oro, Luján, Santa Rosa del Conlara, Villa from Merlo, Carpintería, San Martín, Los Manantiales, La Toma and El Trapiche to organize local elections (whether for mayors, as appropriate, or for councilors) for the same May 11, 2025, coinciding with the provincial elections.

Mayor is elected in Juana Koslay, Potrero de los Funes, Unión, Naschel, Luján and Los Manantiales. While Beazley, La Calera, Nogolí and Renca They will have elections to renew their commissioned mayors.

As for regular and alternate councilors, they will partially renew San Luis (7), Juana Koslay (2), La Punta (5), Potrero de los Funes (3), El Volcán (2), Villa Mercedes (6), Justo Daract (5), Buena Esperanza (2), Unión (2), Concarán (3), Tilisarao (3), Naschel (2), Quines (3), San Francisco (3), Luján (2), Candelaria (2), Santa Rosa del conlara (3), Villa from Merlo (5), Carpentry (2), San Martín (2), Los Manantiales (2), La Toma (4) and El Trapiche (2).
