Russia does not take steps leading to an escalation of tension around Ukraine. This was stated in an interview with Izvestia by the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the EU Vladimir Chizhov.
“Accordingly, the question of a possible aggravation of the situation there and potential new anti-Russian sanctions depends primarily on the prudence and pragmatism of the Europeans themselves. The politicization of the “Ukrainian issue” equally contradicts the economic interests of our country and the EU and is harmful to business and ordinary citizens,” the diplomat stressed.
According to him, Kiev is escalating the situation “not for the first time, including with the aim of preserving the transit route through its territory for Russian gas by all means.”
