The leading company announced this on Thursday. The electric truck is an important step in the company’s sustainability strategy.
The vehicle has a range of around 300 kilometers and is charged between production shifts and overnight. It is used in a shuttle operation between the Magna factory and the Hödlmayr location in Graz. The two locations are less than ten minutes away from each other by car.
For the project, Hödlmayr worked with Daimler Truck, the body manufacturer Kässbohrer and the charging infrastructure provider Siemens.
The company says the investment costs are around four times higher than for vehicles that run on fossil fuels. “Despite the funding we receive for this project, we as a company bear part of these additional costs,” says company boss Johannes Alexander Hödlmayr. There is no empirical data on operating costs; these depend on diesel and electricity prices.
